Grammarly Removes Controversial ‘Expert Review’ AI Tool After Backlash

Grammarly and its parent company Superhuman removed a controversial AI feature 'Expert Review' after a major backlash and a $5 million class-action lawsuit. The tool was using the names and writing styles of famous writers like Stephen King and Julia Angwin, without their permission. Writers and legal experts said that using their identity without consent for the benefit is illegal. After this backlash, the CEO apologised and shut down the feature.
